jay found love in the catastrophic intensity that was war. the dry wasteland of the iraqi desert was nothing compared to the fear that he and the rest of his unit--the rest of the entire army faced together. this was a fucked up place where children took you by the hand and blew you to pieces. this was a world where relaxing your guard for an instant meant death. this was a place where bombs went off in your bed and gunshots stopped your heart.
this was not a fucking vacation spot, and it was surely no place for love. he never saw it coming. there was no sudden epiphany saying 'hey look bud, you're in love with your bunk mate.' it was more subtle, he just realized it one morning while he was watching taecyeon shave. that was it. he'd been captivated by the way the man curved the blade to his jaw and then wiped the soap off.
"ready?" taecyeon asked, while jay sat there staring.
he closed his mouth and got to his feet, ignoring his pulsating heart. he was in love with a man that could be dead within twenty-four hours because that was the war-zone.
