Warnings: None
On some days, she's tempted to tell on herself.
There are moments when things get bad. When her legs are fucking freezing because the pants are too short again. When the girls get snappy and she's left hiding in her room with the lights closed, chin tucked beneath her blanket.
I almost left once! I never would’ve looked back!
Steph thinks that she started this whole journey because she was sick of the absences - dreaming of gaping holes that loomed at her. Straddling cultures and dead mother haunting her.
So she came and everything seemed so new, familiar, home.
Until she walked on stage and all she saw were gaping holes again, no sound. Her finger poised above the button on www.koreanair.com.
As it turned out, Jay was braver than her.
"Fany?"
Light slips past the opened door.
"I almost - "
Jessica shushes her impatiently and ushers the rest of the girls in. Soon she's cocooned in eight warm, breathing bodies; lips ghosting over her cheeks, forehead.
If anything, Tiffany admits that the holes grow bigger, sometimes. But she’s at least learned that the elbows digging into her side right now matter less than the hands intertwined with hers.
