He wanted to let her know how he feels, but there are those who get in the way: Seohyun's crush on Jung Yonghwa, the school band's lead vocalist, and his own insecurities.

CHAPTER ELEVEN
"Class dismissed!" The teacher said as she fixed her things and left the classroom. Kyuhyun yawned as he put his books into his backpack. Suddenly, Donghae appeared in front of him, surprising the younger. "KYU!"
Kyuhyun sighed at his hyung's antics. "Seriously hyung, do you have to yell at my face? And can you please step back? I have personal space issues." He said annoyingly as he pushed him. Donghae stepped back and muttered, "Someone has a temper today."
"He always had a temper, with you at least." Yoona commented. Kyuhyun couldn't help but chuckle a bit at her comment. Donghae just glared at her before turning to Kyuhyun once more, with a smile on his face. "Hey, I heard you and Hye Rim are close now."
Kyuhyun just continued fixing his things, completely ignoring Donghae. Yoona, on the other hand, was stunned at what Donghae said, and quickly asked, "What? Is it true? You're now close with Hye Rim-ssi?"
Kyuhyun heaved a deep breath before saying, "Why are you making such a big deal about it? There's nothing wrong with being friends with a girl like her. Plus, I've been her tour guide for a week and I guess we became friends because of that." He explained before standing up.
After he left the room, Donghae and Yoona looked at each other. "Why do I have a weird feeling about this?" She asked. Donghae just shrugged. "I feel the same thing, Yoona."

Music filled the room as Kyuhyun pressed the keys of the piano and sang.
Sueobsi neomeojyeo biteuldaedo
(No matter how many times I stumble and fall)
Naneun ireohke seo itjanha
(I'm still standing like this)

He paused as he stared at the music sheet in front of him. Right now, he's almost finished with the song. All he needed to write is the last chorus. He sighed. He guessed he's just writing this because he doesn't have anything to do that night.
He held the necklace Seohyun gave him and looked at the characters engraved on the tag. He wasn't very good with languages and even after all this time, he still wondered what they meant.
Just then, someone spoke, clearly startling Kyuhyun. "I-um, I didn't know that you're still here."
Kyuhyun recognized the voice. It was Hye Rim. She quickly said, lowering her head. "I-I guess I disturbed you huh? Sorry about that. I should go."
"I didn't ask you to leave." was his only statement. Hye Rim stopped abruptly as her eyes widened. She slowly turned to face him. Kyuhyun continued, "I don't mind having you here."
Hye Rim felt herself smiling as she sat down. Kyuhyun just continued playing the piano without singing. During that time, she was amazed at him. She didn't know he also has a talent in music. "That was beautiful, Kyuhyun-ssi. You play like a pro." She complimented.
"I'm not as good as Seohyun." He quickly said. "She learned since she was little. I only learned to play recently because of her."
Inside her mind, she was happy that she was having this conversation with him. Kyuhyun, on the other hand, also felt at ease because for now, the pain he felt temporarily vanished.

Yonghwa and Seohyun are walking together in the Seoul streets, enjoying the cold air and each other's company. As a gush of cold wind blew, Seohyun felt herself shivering from the winter air, so she took her coat and put it on. But much to her dismay, she didn't bring any gloves. "Everything except my hands are warm tonight."
Yonghwa just chuckled when he held her hand put it in his pocket. Seohyun's eyes widened at his actions. "You should put your other hand in your other pocket, or else it might freeze."
Seohyun felt comforted with the warmth he was giving her. Yonghwa also added, "I agreed to take it slow right? So this is me taking it slow." He squeezed her hand reassuringly.
Both of them walked and talked with each other, until they stopped by a bookstore for Seohyun to buy some books. When they were in front of the bookstore, Seohyun spotted someone. Her eyes widened at the sight of the two persons in front of them. It was Kyuhyun and Hye Rim. "Oppa?"
"Seohyun?" Kyuhyun was dumbfounded. Hye Rim just looked at them and was rendered speechless. Yonghwa raised an eyebrow at the sight of Kyuhyun.
They both said simultaneously, "What are you doing together?"

I'm really sorry for not updating so fast! I was busy with the upcoming exams and this is the only time I can write this chapter. Before anything else, mostly, the answers I got from what I asked is mostly from SNSD. I was actually looking for a girl who is not in SNSD because she is going to be a tragic character in my next fic. (Oops, looks like I slipped... ^^)
