something else to be crazy about
365 in Korea - 7/6 - Woman
Originally uploaded by senzatema. not that i haven't always been pretty crazy about taking pictures - i think my friends in pretty much every corner of my life can attest to that - but recently, it's become something of an obsession.
I was approached by an aquaintance of mine here in Pohang, and he asked if I knew anyone who was looking to buy a used Nikon D40. It was like a reflex. I just agreed, gave him the money a few days later, and bought a new lens a few days after that. I've never enjoyed taking pictures so much. It's been so much fun to play around with. Just figuring out all the little details.
The other day I sent off for yet another lens, one that would make it easier to take clear pictures in lower light, capturing the expressions on peoples' faces. I'm so excited to get it when I arrive home in a couple weeks. Sure, most of my friends will be annoyed with me for constantly taking pictures of them, but it will have been 6 months and they'll get over it. :)
This picture is my new favorite. This woman was sitting next to me under a tree at one of the temples near the city. I kept craning around to try to get a good focused shot of her, and she never even moved her head, so it worked out really well. I love her face...I think it shows so much experience and even strength, even though I don't know her at all.
Anyway, I just wanted to share it.
