i want to change my name. i've wanted this for a really long time. when i was 15, i used to read the phone book for good names. when i was 11, i was legally adopted by my stepfather. he and my mom changed my last name without telling me until it was too late. i hate his last name, and i'm an adult now, so...it's time

my father picked out my first name. want to know the searching process he used to name his first born?
there was a poster of cheryl tiegs on the wall in his "office." she was all blonde and feathered and in a bikini and....blech.

funny thing is i have decided to change my middle name to something gender neutral. i vowed to change my middle name since i was like 14. i hate my middle name- Nicole. never liked it and never connected to it. i asked my mother if she cared and she said "i don't care!"
sweet. em and i have been toying with lots of names. but i won't spend the the money to change it unless i am sure on the middle name. whatever it is will probably represent my 2 spirit self.

Is there any way you could get a hold of the important people in your life and just let them know of the change that's happening to your name? I know it's your choice, but the fact that you're worried about how their going to react shows that they effect your life, if only in a small way.
I think letting them know it's going to happen might help. You dont even have to give them a reason. Just tell them so they know.
