Daily Dose of PW/AGM

 The Twitter Times:

Sunday, January 15, 2012.

So did you recognize the surgeon from ER, Dr. Lucien Dubenko? Awesome job, Mr. Orser!

Here’s several days worth of tweets - as you can see, not much to report; although you may have missed a great live Twitter conversation with Neal Baer himself during Friday’s east coast airing of “In Case Of (Re)Birth”.

Ratings news could be better. At least the show is still drawing over 8 mil people per episode, a good 2 mil more than the nearest competition. Sadly, we still need to boost that all-important 18-49 demo and get the share rating up if we’re going to get a second season, the show dropped from a 1.5 last week to a 1.3 this week.

This coming week (1-20) is a rerun “In Case of Loss of Control”, and the next week (1/27) is a rerun of “In Case of Memory Loss”. The next new episode is “In Case Of Complications” and is slated to air on 2/10, so I imagine that 2/3 will also be a rerun; likely “In Case Of Exposure” as they’ve been re-running them in order. Be sure to remember that on 2/17 the show moves to 9 p.m., not 8 p.m.

Also, don’t forget to vote for @PatrickWilson73 for a Shorty Award! I nominated him for three categories; movie, music and actor. http://shortyawards.com/?category=music&screen_name=patrickwilson73

As always, my thoughts on the episode are way down at the bottom. Enjoy!

Episode 11: In Case of (Re)Birth

Let’s get the nitpicking out of the way first. More surgery at the clinic? And a complicated procedure at that? I know Michael had surgery there last week, but it was a fairly simple procedure. Guess it’s a good thing that Anton built that trauma room.

My other complaint was the grandmother - ok, fine, she’s going to raise her son’s baby, but what about the baby’s mother? The girl had no place to go, was living on the street, but abuela simply said she could “visit the baby”. Are we leaving her on the streets? C’mon writers, tie up the loose ends.

Having said all that, I really did enjoy the episode, and not just because I got to see Patrick Wilson (heh). Did anyone else catch Kate’s comment about how she and her husband had decided not to have children? She didn’t look like she was necessarily happy with that decision. And Michael… why is he always so uncomfortable around babies? Particularly baby boys? Remember the second episode, the pregnant lady with the brain tumor, and he had to deliver the baby early? He didn’t look terribly comfy in there looking at the baby in the incubator (they had a boy); and then this time, he didn’t come near the newborn boy (“I see it; it’s a baby.”). Anna mentioned that she had no husband and no children of her own back in episode 4 - did she and Michael agree not to have children? Did they try, but didn’t succeed? Did they succeed only to lose their baby (presumably a boy)? And poor Christina - she really had her heart set on taking that little boy home, even if Michael did laugh at her. I loved that look between her and Zeke; I see marriage/baby in their future. (Yes, I’m psychic. ;-) )

Also, there was the whole mother thing. Was it really Michael’s mother who sent the “son” flowers? I’d like to think so - lot’s of possibilities for a reunion at some point. I wonder how that would go? And Rita - Anna called her “your other mom”. Another hint into Michael’s relationship with Rita.

The ending was very touching, E-Mo and the Huntington’s sword over his head. “I bet you’re glad I invited myself over to celebrate.” Looks like some male bonding going on there, yes? I like that idea. Michael needs a good “man friend” to help keep his head straight.

So what did you think?
