My Meredith Grey Narration

Feb 12, 2006 23:41

What is pain? Really what is it?

My dad likes to quote a marine, “Pain is weakness leaving the body.” Artists claim that they can pain can be harnessed and channeled into their art, “Life is like tragedy for those who feel.”

So tell me what is pain.

Every Sunday, I turn on my television to ABC and watch Grey’s Anatomy. And every week, Meredith contemplates the sucky-ness of her life without McDreamy. She just cries and cries while her and Dr. Shepherd make mooneyes at one another across the OR. Honestly, are they masochists or something? Do they enjoy the angst from their predicament? Why can’t they take up a normal hobby like golf?

Yet, the saddest thing is I kind of want what they have. This whole mutual unrequitedness with all the pained glances, knowing looks, and pain. Yes, even the pain.

Maybe it’s because “pain lets you know you’re alive.”

*P.S. This post was brought to you by Tylenol 3 for when you spend four hours shoveling the 20+ inches of snow around your car and then do your laundry. Did I mention typing up a report too? Mmmm. Tylenol.
