Searching for a needle in a haystack
Searching for a story where both our guys get hospitalized. I don't recall the circumstances which lead up to it. All I seem to recall is that they are in separate room (possibly even separate floors). They are in critical condition and because they are unaware of the state of each other's health, they are going downhill steadily. Someone finally fights to get them into the same room together where they begin to heal and recover (subconsciously aware of each-other's close proximity?)
