Hey everyone,
I need a bit of help. I had read a story a few months/years ago (i cant quite rember its been so long :p)
Jim was married and had kids with a woman. The kids called Blair Papa Bear or Papa Blair or something to that effect. I remember Blair was very promiscuous because he couldn't have the lover he always wanted (Jim of course).

Blair ( Read more... )

pairing: blair/other, pairing: jim/other, theme: friendship, story length: novel, *found, theme: death

OK, this sounds really stupid, but can someone PM me why it's so sad? I don't know if I can handle an angst fest right now... Thank you very much in advance.

I read it once, ate a gallon of ice cream, and have never felt masochist enough to return, but it's a brilliant (and entirely too plausible) story

I saved a copy of it in a text file last time it was searched, because I figured that since it was down to a Wayback link, it's just a matter of time until we can't get to it at all. That said, I've not had the nerve to read it to this date. There were enough details given that I knew I'd be crying through most of it, so...I just haven't been able to bring myself to read it.

Also, totally off topic, I bought pretty much all of your books the other night in a wild shopping spree. I decided to take advantage of the sale. :) I didn't get the anthologies, but I bought seven books. I think I'm going to start with Long, Lonely Howl, but I also bought a few of Jane Davitt's the same night and I started one of those first.

You guys rock. ;)

Awwww. Thank you so much. That was a really good sale.

Honestly, the Sariad story is so good and so sad and so powerful that I went out and wrote Green Eyed Hope to counteract the pain. Blair is still gay, Jim is still straight, nothing else is the same. I just felt so broken for my broken boys that I had to fix them. *sob*

Well, I love Saraid's work, so I know I'd love it - in theory - if I can get past the pain brought on by the themes...ouch. I know I'll read it eventually, but...I haven't been in a strong enough place yet - know what I mean? Anyway, I understand exactly what you mean about Green Eyed Hope! It makes so much sense, now. I always kind of wondered what brought that on. But it is kind of a fix it...although Jim isn't in a sexual relationship at all in your fic. I love that story, though, despite the fact that I've never sent you fb. *ducks rotten fruit* I remember the first time I read it I was all...Riley?! RILEY?!!! Yeah, not so much a favorite character of mine, but I really did love him in your fic. My favorite part might be, though, Jim and Riley's testosterone fest when they go to the gym and beat the shit of each other work out together after the first night Riley spends with Blair. ;) Hee ( ... )

In Saraid's piece, I felt like Blair had sex but no love. So I reversed things... Jim had love, but no sex. But Jim wanted the love, he needed it, so I didn't feel like that was as sad. Besides, I get the feeling Riley and Jim really would love to beat on each other and have belching contests and drive Blair up a wall. Jim didn't get left out of the family, and something in Saraid's story made me feel like Blair had been emotionally left out, no matter how much Jim's family tried to include him.
