JadeMac asked for this story a few months ago. She said it wasn't Ancient Spirits of the Forest but perhaps the one you are thinking of is. It has Blair crashing in Peru, losing his memory, being taken in by the Chopec and getting bitten by a Bushmaster. And they call him Shushupe, which is Chopec for the Bushmaster snake.
