Need a fix of modern AU and spirit guides
I just saw the episode of Lie To Me where Richard Burgi plays a senator and despite normally being quite able to separate canon from other canon, I spent half the show thinking "but where's Blair??" I've read so much fic that just their likenesses apparently occur as a unit in my head.
As a result...
1) What are some good present-day AUs where they meet each other and they have different jobs (as opposed to just missing each other on that original canon meeting). With the whole Sentinel thing still there would be good (for some reason Blair explaining the concept to Jim doesn't get old for me), but without it is just fine too.
Also, for something completely different (though I imagine there's probably overlap):
2) Any favourite fics where the spirit guides play an important role other than just showing up as dream symbols? This could be where the spirit guides are more proactive, or are real animals, or whatever, just wondering what's out there where the wolf and the jaguar are front and center. Hell, they Jim and Blair can even BE the animals in a zoo and I'll be happy.
Looking for slash or pre-slash in both cases (perhaps excluding the zoo animals scenario, haha), and upbeat endings :)
Oh, AND, here is a rec. It's not a fic rec, but this is a really nicely edited slash vid featuring a generous helping of shirtless Jim. (That's okay, right?)
