Gen Amnesia (Sort Of)

I'm looking for a story where Jim wakes up in a hospital and they tell him that he's spent the last however many years in a coma and dreamed up all the Sentinel stuff. One of the things that helps convince him is that his face and chest are horribly scarred from the explosion that knocked him out. Of course it's all a trick by... someone (Brackett?) and Blair and Jake Kelso rescue him.

Saw it on Cascade Archives some time again, but can't remember the title or the author.
