Caro-guide, nesting, and Due South
Hey guys,
I'm a brand new member, but I've been watching this community for a while. I've actually been back through every post on it while looking for the particular fic which is the first of the three things I'm asking about today. It's possible I missed it, but I'd rather just ask. Sorry for bombarding you with questions, but I'm getting desperate!
1. The first is a story I read not a huge time ago where sentinels are known and common. I think several of the Major Crimes people are either sentinels or guides. I do not know the title, author, or where I read it.
What I do remember is that Jim's 'guide' is his wife Carolyn, only she's not really a guide and she's passively abusing him. Simon is also a Sentinel only his guide died (male, don't remember name) I think and he's been going without. He ends up taking Jim to a 'clinic' where Blair helps Jim (Simon feels like he could bind to Blair as well, but decides that Jim needs him more even though this is the first Guide he's felt close to bonding with in a long time.) Carolyn is stripped of her guide status, which makes her furious and she tries to force Jim back to her by handcuffing him and raping him. I think there's a divorce or arrest involved in here somewhere too.
During the course of the story, Blair 'feels' Simon having a heart attack from half the city away, Simon is given a young guide who eventually leaves him to marry Daryl, and at the very end he is bonded to his old guides nephew or something who looks exactly like the old guide (possibly even had the same name). Anywho, I'm not certain of this last part but I think the fic ends with Jim and Blair 'nesting' in the hospital and Blair becoming Jim's true/permenant guide.
2. The second thing I'm looking for is any fic containing that 'nesting' behavior I just mentioned. I think I've read more than one fic with it in it, one of which might or might not have been the previously mentioned. The scene of Jim pulling the hospital mattress down and barricading him and Blair into a corner with furniture and soft stuff while Blair (or Jim) heals from an injury has stuck with me.
3. The last is very simple and vague. I've read a few Sentinel/Due South Crossovers and loved them, but I'm looking for more (as well as the original ones I read because like an idiot I forgot to bookmark.
