You know what I just realized? The moral of Code Geass isn't that terrorism never works or that we should all live in the Marvel universe because nobody stays dead for more than two minutes, it's that the world would suck without America. That's why, fancy foreign people, you need us! Because if you don't have us, Britain is going to try to take over the world!
So thanks to the United States still being here, so by 2017 Lelouch and all his friends won't be fighting for freedom and generally not having a good time. Instead, they have to deal with a world torn apart by climate change!

...Oh by the way, in the future some guy cloned an army of velociraptors but they escaped. So yeah. One day I should really post that essay I have about the future.
