We Go On

Apr 13, 2010 11:17

It occours to me that I never actually posted this fic to my own journal or to any of my usual fic-sharing type places. Whoops. Well, I'm bored with studying for exams anyhow, so this seems like as good a time as any. This version of the fic has way less typos than the one that got posted in the exchange itself, BTW.

Thank-you. :) Also, I love you icon! I'm a farily recent Rayne convert; somehow it snuck its way into my head!canon when I wasn't paying attention.

I know how 'insidious' Rayne can be -- I'd never thought of that pairing when I watched "Firefly" in 2002 or even the BDM in 2005, until I stumbled across a fanfic by sevangel in 2007 and suddenly it became one of my favorite 'ships to read!

I first read... oh, dear, what was it! That would probably have been when I was still primarily using Fanfiction.net for fic reading, before I got this LJ account. Ah - right, it was Dyce's Horseshoe Nail series, which starts with Two Gorram Days. It just made the ship make so much SENSE! Then I stumbled across this inexplicably good Rayne vid, and suddenly I was hooked. *laughs* I'll have to check out sevangel's stuff; I see she has a nice fic index, which should make it easier. Thanks for the link!

I love, LOVE, LOVE Dyce's Horseshoe Nail series so much that I finally had to print out that entire series so I could re-read it whenever I'm feeling blue. I also printed out her slightly racier series beginning with A Simple Transaction (followed by The Arrangement and the five-chapter follow-up Keeping It Simple) and re-read that when I feel the need for fluffier Rayne fun.

Sevangel also posted on Twisting the Hellmouth, so between that and her LJ index, you should be able to find all of her Rayne work (she's only posted non-Rayne stuff since 2008 or so). She doesn't have a Beta, so there are some consistent typos in her work, but even as compulsive about proof-reading as I am I was able to enjoy her work.

I don't have to overlook any proof-reading errors in the fanfiction.net series starting with A Man of Honor by thescarredman, in case you haven't seen that one yet.

And in case you haven't seen this site yet, Pretty Deadly is devoted to indexing Rayne fic found all over the internet, and checking out the award winners and ( ... )

Oh, man, thank-you so much for the links! The "Simple Transaction" series was awesome and "A Man of Honor" was even better. (Uh... on a related note, I may not have got done much of the work I planned to do today. Whoops.) I think that between the two of them, Sevangel and the "Pretty Deadly" site are going to occupy my spare time very thoroughly for the next little while. :)

*evil grin*

I'm so happy to be your local Rayne 'pusher'! Don't overlook the two other stories that are sequels to "A Man of Honor" ("A Man of Action" and "Campfire Story").

Have fun!

*as my evil laugh fades into the night*
