Thing 1) Why on earth am I so tired? SO MUCH CAFFEINE. OUGHT TO BE BUZZED. AM NOT BUZZED. DEAR UNIVERSE: OBJECTION. STRONG OBJECTION. *headdesk*
Thing 2) Mother-frelling latte-related continuity errors! *glares at fic* Hot drinks are my favourite prop for breaking up talking-heads dialogue, but it's surprisingly difficult to keep track of whether the mug is empty yet or not.
Thing 3) Why is it that when I edit other people's fic, I find all kids of stuff to cut, but when I edit my own I end up adding all kinds of new things? Anyhow, I think I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel wrt the Thor fic that Lightening was excerpted from. Which is to say I finally know exactly what I need to write to make all the bits connect up into a coherent and reasonably smooth-flowing story, I just need to actually WRITE them. Hhhhhhopefully it'll come in under 15k? Possibly? Although this looks less and less likely as time goes on. DEFINITELY UNDER 20K, THOUGH!
Thing 4) Podfic! reena-jenkins podficed my story Excerpts From the Daybook of Virginia Potts, With Zombies! (Original story here, podfic here; scroll down, I swear it's there. *grin*) I have a sheepish confession to make - previous to this, I had never listened to any of Reena's podfic. I originally started following her because she has great taste in fic - so if she thought something was worth podficcing, I figured that was as good as a fic rec. Also, I liked reading her occasional thoughts on the podficcing process. But I don't really listen to podfic much; not even
sophia_sol's.
But then I listened to the podfic she made of Excerpts, and - holy crow! It's like a different story. A story written by someone much wittier than myself. (The first time Tony speaks, I almost killed myself laughing.) So now I'm hastily rectifying my previous error re: not listening to her podfics, and I can't recommend strongly enough that you all do the same. She's certainly recorded a wide enough variety of podfic to satisfy any palette - she's insanely prolific in this regard.
Thing 5) Story nomination! I don't know who, but I've recently been informed that some awesome person was kind enough to nominate Physicist, Solider, Queen for a GateFic award! Look, there's a graphic:
ANYHOW, so that's pretty sweet. I've never been nominated for an award before! (Or rather I was, once, and then the award site MYSTERIOUSLY VANISHED, which was kind a let down.) Voting opens on the 4th, and I think you have to register for the site in order to participate? Should be fun times, anyhow.
Thing 6) Toronto Pride parade tomorrow! Those of us going had an AWESOME time picking out our outfits. Because, you know, it's Pride. You have to have an awesome outfit. I have very little idea what to expect, but holy crap I am EXCITED LIKE WOAH.
