Co~oding want CODEINE...actually it doesn't do much for me. ;_;

I hate Vigenere cipher, btw.  I went through a stupid message twice, and the damn thing didn't make sense, and by twice, I mean I had to go through the entire keyphrase twice.

Vigenere is polyalphabetic and wholly dependent on the key phrase.  A great example of letting the system be known, but keeping your own secrets.  Here is the table.  Wikipedia has a decent description.  Basically you have a key word or phrase.

Ex:  SENSOO

Message to encode:  This is the song that never ends...

So, I'll keep it simple and start with "S."  I go to either the vertical or horizontal axis, doesn't matter which as long as you are consistent, and check bold "S" with bold "T."  This gets "L." To decode, you go to bold "S" go down the row to "L" and trace up to "T."  Simple?  OK, yes, but when you do a lot...you tend to screw up.

But you learn tricks, like in decoding Keyphrase "B" paired with Cipher text"B" will always be "A."  Applies to the whole alphabet.  Some people tend to see that, but it took me actually using it to realize it.  ;_;  Or Keyphrase "B" paired with Ciphertext "A" will be "Z."  Applies to all; if the ciper text letter appears directly before the keyphrase letter in the alphabet, the result it "Z."  Blah blah blah.

Ciphertext: llvkwgllrkcbyxushbwzrjsbvw
Plaintext: This is the song that never ends

Key Phrase: I love the buckeyes five.

Message:

But the message goes: Basically
you do the Vigenere in the order of HKVCV --> NHQKM --> MYHNK --> HASXI
--> TUIJE --> ASMFM
OK~

So then it's:

HKVCV NHQKM MYHNK HASXI TUIJE ASMFM VDZJA TUHBF NDLMW WQQFI PPFVV XALFL GKPFI JTMNS NEVZA XYAFF XSJBL GBITS DZBDS VEVZV KVPGS FXTDO MSSME ESEDL QCWYQ

Easy enough, except the keyphrase didn't start at "I."  I had to go through the whole combination of "Ilovethebuckeyesfive," "lovethebuckeyesfiveI,"  Etc.  >.<  It started with the "C" btw.

This does it much quicker, which I discovered after I'd already done every combination by hand.

Basically it was rife with spelling errors:

My method was to decode the first 4-5 letters and see if it could make sense.

Bah.

Translation from Bad English:

welfare recipients go to work.
Elaine Kinslow and all those like her are the real heroes of the welfare revolution. There are millions like her all across America, and I am happy she could join the first lady tonight. Elaine, we're very proud of you. Please stand up. (applause)
We still have a lot more to do, all of us, to make
It's Clinton's 1998 State of the Union Address.  OK.

In other news, am feeling well.  Have a lot to do, but I can procrastinate a bit.  ^_^
OK, LJ has eaten this post 5x.  Good thing I copied it seconds before?
