Thoughts on A Scandal in Belgravia (Spoilers, sweetie!)

Okay, let's stir things up a little.

I saw something good on the telly. It was written by Moffatt.
A national icon with superhuman mental powers, who is apparently asexual but in reality bloody hot, at least to look at, has seen everything, been everywhere and is, despite his devoted companion, chronically lonely and bored.

He meets an equally mysterious and alluring woman who is using her sexuality and beauty (plus, to be fair, a good deal of intellect and low cunning) to ingratiate herself with royalty. She ends up in danger and he tries to sort it out, but they end up running rings around one another and it's the fact that she is his intellectual equal and almost always one step ahead that keeps him hooked. They never actually get it on but he's broody and mean to other people who fancy him and are doing a lot more to make his life comfortable than she ever will. And in the end she gets away. He's left with a final communication about her, gazing into space.

And then there's a really, seriously, silly ending.

GITF? No, A Scandal in Belgravia. So far, so Moffatt. But undeniably very pretty to look at.
