Sunday Night In San Francisco -- The Park

Phoebe had enjoyed being home to visit Grams and her sisters for the weekend. She had really gotten homesick and had missed her family. It was nice seeing that Paige was doing so well under Grams tutelage and that Prue was doing great with her job. She had spent time with her sisters, but she had spent most of her time with Piper and with Grams.

She had filled Grams in on her classes and her job at Caritas. She told her about cheerleading and how she was the TA for Aziraphale and Wilson's classes. She had pretty much got Grams caught up on everything going on in her life.

Well, mostly.

She hadn't yet found a way to tell Grams about Cole.

That bothered her as she didn't like keeping someone so important to her a secret from Grams. She wanted to tell Grams all about him and how happy she was, but had not yet figure out a way to get past the idea of Grams going ballistic when she found out that Cole was a demon.

Currently, she was out walking around some of her old paths. It was twilight, one of her favorite times, and walking here also gave her time to think.

He watched the petite young woman walk into the park as dusk fell and chuckled to himself. They made it so easy for him, walking alone at night like this. She was dressed well, the latest fashions, so he anticipated a purse full of cash and credit cards.

Like candy from a baby. . . .
Phoebe had always felt at ease in the park, so she wasn't really paying attention to her surroundings, or to the emotions and feelings she was picking up from people close by. She was lost in thought about Cole and Grams and continued walking, wondering if she should break the news to Grams before she left to return to school... or e-mail her.
The girl seemed distracted. Even better. He hid behind a clump of trees and waited for her to pass. No one else was nearby. Stepping out behind her, he clamped a hand over her mouth and pressed his gun to her back. "Don't even think about screaming," he hissed.
Phoebe froze. Screaming was not the first thought that crossed her mind -- especially feeling a weapon in her back. Her first thought had been to slam herself back against him, but again, weapon in her back. She made a slight noise in her throat as she tried to calm the panic that she was feeling. Was it a demon? She couldn't tell clearly and she knew she needed to calm down.
He jammed the gun barrel in the small of her back meaningfully. "Give me your purse," he demanded. "Just keep quiet and you won't get hurt."
Phoebe cried out when the gun was jammed into her back. She could hand over her purse, but there wasn't much in it. She could hope he didn't check until the gun was away from her
The mugger snatched the purse from her hand. "Close your eyes and lie down on the ground," he ordered.
Phoebe whimpered slightly, but did as she was told. One thing that she didn't like doing was closing her eyes while there were bad guys around. She could probably open her eyes to slits when she heard him moving away from her. Then she could tell the police and Grams what he looked like.

"You stay right there for twenty minutes," he warned her. "I see you move, I come back and shoot you. Got it?"
Phoebe nodded, tears slipping down her face. She had no doubts that he would shoot her and she didn't want to give him any excuse to make good on his threat.
"I got your address on your license," the mugger said, "so don't go to the police or I'll come back for a visit." Then he stuffed the gun in his pants and ran off into the darkness.
Phoebe waited until she didn't hear anything around her, and then she scrambled to her feet. She moved into the trees and looked around to make sure he was indeed completely gone, and then she ran back to the manor as fast as she could.
