Thursday Morning -- Selkie Cove

Thursday morning once again found Phoebe back at Selkie Cove. She had gathered quite the nice pile of shells and other things and placed them on the beach. Archie and Veronica had come to see her last night... as had Walter and Pippi and then much later, LanaIt was hot again, today, but she wasn't really feeling too much as she was spending a lot

Lana came down to the water's edge with coffee, chai, and some pastries. She climbed out onto one of the farthest rocks and called for Phoebe.

As promised, Phoebe came up out of the water when she heard Lana calling to her. "Hi there."

"I brought coffee and chai - take your pick." Lana set them out on a relatively flat part of the rock. "Also some pastries from JGOB."

She smiled at Phoebe. "How are you doing?"

Phoebe appeared to be thinking very hard about this and shook her head, finally pointing to a cup. "That one!"

Lana handed her the cup with a smile, but felt a little nervous inside. She had the feeling that her Phoebe was slipping away and there was nothing she could do to stop it.

Even last night, when she'd managed to tag along with Bel and Piper, she hadn't been able to do anything that would help Phoebe.

Still, she smiled and sipped at her drink and pretended that everything was all right.

Phoebe smiled at her and took a drink from the cup. "I found things," she said happily, pointing at the pile of stones and shells and other things on the beach.

"They're beautiful, Phoebe," Lana said with a smile. "Is that what you do while you're on your own? Find things?"

Phoebe nodded at her with a happy smile. "There are so many pretty things on the ocean floor."

"And you're really not missing any of this - any of us at all, are you." Lana phrased it as a statement, not a question. "And if we don't find a way to change you back soon you'll leave and we'll never see you again."

"There is no missing," Phoebe said as she smiled. "Everyone is right here.'

"But you wouldn't miss us if you went away," Lana said quietly. "I think I understand that now. Do you even want to stop being a mermaid?"

Phoebe didn't look like she really understood what Lana was saying. She looked at her in confusion, trying to find words to answer the question.

"The ocean calls to me..." She bit her lip. "I don't want to go away."

"It's okay, sweetie," Lana said, trying to reassure her, trying just to be as light and non-concerned as Mermaid Phoebe was. "It's nothing for you to worry about. Let's just enjoy the sun and water and the company, okay?"

She was going to lose her. They all were.

Phoebe smiled at her and then nodded. "Okay. Want to come in the water?"

"Sure," Lana said, making herself smile. "I wore my suit under my clothes just in case."

Damnit, she was going to make the most of whatever time she had left here.

In just a few seconds she'd piled her clothes neatly on the beach and slipped into the water.

Phoebe was swimming in the water with Lana, and she was happy, but her eyes kept turning out to sea. "Did you do fun things last night?"
