Well, I had the last of my five I.V. steroid treatments yesterday. My function (and, by "function," I mean not stumbling around like a toddler) DOES seem slightly improved, although my neurologist never said how long the full effect would take or how long it would last. Since we still don't know what's actually causing my inflamed spinal column, I'm going to take these results with a grain of salt, since the I.V.s were intended only to treat my symptoms.
I am led to wonder if if my lower back was sore this entire time, and I just didn't realize it because of the loss of sensitivity in my torso area. Oh, and my eczema (for which I am normally treated with steroid injections) seems to be clearing up. Also, my stomach is a tad queasy today, but they said the Solu-Medrol might affect my appetite. Ah well.
Next Monday: spinal tap (or, as the correct terminology goes, "lumbar puncture"). I've decided that I MUST listen to Spinal Tap for the entire duration thereof; for only that would be appropriately meta.
