Has it been a month since I updated this thing?

I guess it has. That's craziness, craziness!

So how'd the month of March go for me? It was...interesting.

I was cast in Alice in Wonderland, with the roles being the White Rabbit (Awesome), the Frog (Eh..), the Red King (Awesome), and the White Knight (Muy Awesome).

However, having some kickass parts does not take away from the fact that the woman playing Alice (Who we'll call Alice from now on) has done everything to ensure the show is not a success. She's the current Artistic Director for Theatre for the Community, and she cast herself in the lead role. Alice told everyone in the cast and crew that she was to be viewed solely as an actor, and nothing more.

That didn't last too long. A couple of weeks down the road, and she's making changes to the show, justifying her choices by asserting her authority as the head honcho. This soon gave way to her being a totalitarian, and then complaining to the cast and crew that we were all stabbing her in the back for not following through with everything she says. Of course we would have followed everything she said, if the reasons behind her directions had been more credible than just her being the AD.

So of course she's angry about it, and we're angry about it. It didn't help matters much when she gave out audience scripts on Saturday so the audience could participate in the show. We were told this would happen in advance, yet never saw the audience script, so we had no clue when they would be participating. The worst part was that she had the script well in advance, and could have easily printed out copies to give to the actors so we would know where the participation would begin. But I guess it's a testament to the focus that we as actors have to not allow something like that to throw us off.

Alice closes this weekend, and this will be the last time most of us in this cast work with TFC under our own choosing. It's a shame, too, because they're doing Tartuffe in the fall and I'd love to audition for Orgon.

Ah well, moving on; I'm currently in rehearsal for Comedy of Errors. The director's setting it in 1920s Egypt, which could actually be pretty awesome if we're able to pull the costumes and set off. I've been told I'm going to be wearing a huge turban, so you know there's going to be pictures of that posted ASAP.

I'm also auditioning for a comedy troupe up here in the region on Wednesday. I really think I have a good shot, I just need to refamiliarize myself with some of the improv games again.

Let's see, what else...Nothing I can really think of.

Posting this on LiveJournal too, because I'm lazy like that.
