Step Thirteen

The weekend was...quite enjoyable, in many senses. I finally played tennis against Renji again (and you are getting better, believe it or not-you made me work for it), found a new cafe, and most importantly, was able to spend the entire time with my rather wonderful boyfriend. =)

It made me much more ready to face the Monday ahead of me! My developmental psychology class somehow dissolved into an ethics discussion-we're studying cases of feral children, and the concerns with taking them out of the wild and re-introducing them into society. It was interesting seeing the divisions in my classmates, and I hope that we do get into another debate like that-it made class much more interesting.

The one thing that stood out was how important language development is in young children-if it's not implemented at an early age, communication for the rest of their lives is going to be strictly limited.  It made me wonder about some of the students at the school where I student teach.  Several of them can only communicate through noises-and I'm still wondering if it would be possible to teach language to them, as their minds are still on the level of a very young child. Curiouser and curiouser.

Those girls that Renji and I are helping Sen-kun coach are getting excited about their first match, I think.  They've all improved considerably, and more importantly, they're having fun with it! I think I'm going to do a bit of spying this week on their opponents...it never hurts to know what to concentrate on.

And on a better note, is anyone up for tennis? I really need a challenge.

They weren't joking when the doctors told me I'd be in and out of tests for the rest of my life.  I have a spinal tap scheduled for November (oh, I love annual tests), but they want to move it up to my next test battery.  Apparently, that doctor who saw me after Atobe's party called up mine with concerns about the medications I'm taking...
I'm so tired of hospitals.

Renji- I just want to let you know how much I love you.  You don't know how much I needed our weekend together.

renji, tennis, psychology, special education, long tall weekend, adorable princesses, health
