Doh the humanity!

In truth, mercenarytoast's recent post on academics_anon was on a hiding to nowhere before the 'C' word was bandied about. (Fittingly enough, "nowhere" is precisely where the post has since ended-up. However if you're curious, its text is under the cut before the Postscript, below.)

Only one point worth noting about it, really, and that's the tiresome ubiquity of the artificial 'G' verb in the (occasionally dismissive, but otherwise well-intentioned and helpful) responses to the post. Whilst it may cause Eric Schmidt to wet his pants with glee, and reassure the Department of Homeland Security that they are not alone in resorting to a six-letter Internet facility of dubious omniscience for their flawed data fixes, other Search Engines are available. You know - if you have to rely on those sorts of things...

Interestingly enough, in e-mail correspondence with a colleague today, one postgrad in particular was branded a "Woogler". Not a typo, it turns out, but an unholy hybrid of Wikipedia and Google over-reliance in human form.

Couple of questions for you crazy folk.

Does anyone know of any Film Studies MA/PhD programs? I found one, but it's undergraduate only. I'm trying to combine my love of ancient history with horror movies in an academic setting (mostly I'm sick of this whole "real world" thing), and I figured this is the best way (trust me, they do relate).

So, many thanks in advance. - mercenarytoast.

Amused Postscript: Some people really picked the wrong day for such blatant cowardice. Tut.

And here's The Huff on Sarah Palin's on/off relationship with God...and the truth:
