Armand Limnader...

...that well-known Vampire Jedi Party candidate currently running for the Presidency of the United States of Fop, clearly has his sights set on Pseuds' Corner in Private Eye magazine with his latest onslaught against those unthinking, designer-clad off-the-peg dandies:

'“What do Beau Brummell, Malcolm McLaren and Ralph Lauren have in common? They have all been obsessed, in one way or another, with the tug of war between self-conscious historicism and cutting-edge avant-gardism that has always defined British fashion. Using clothes as shorthand for social posturing, subcultures ranging from Regency fops to ’60s Mods and Thatcher punks have both asserted and subverted the traditions of polite English society.

“Of course, nowadays ‘‘punk’’ outfits are sold ready-made in every mall, and spat-wearing, umbrella-toting dandies are more likely to turn up in a Ralph Lauren window than in real life.”' - Armand Limnader, T Magazine. (http://themoment.blogs.nytimes.com/tag/armand-limnander/ and http://www.nytimes.com/indexes/2008/09/07/style/t/index.html)

I'd just like to state for the record that I was never a 'Thatcher punk', and find the concept of Regency fops being a "subculture" worthy of more than just professional scorn.

Vote Limnader. He's fun to go shopping with.

(Cheers to Dandyism.net for the tip-off.)

Oh, and on the subject of pseuds, let's take a moment to admire how Peter Aspden can take the blindingly obvious, slam it into an oven at too high a temperature for far too long, and condemn modern Western mankind to distractedly poke at the crispy thing before washing it down with an energy drink* anyway.

Watch out for that "hyperlink syndrome", now:
