My own introduction to this Will Eisner property came via - of all things - a coffeeshop in Amsterdam by the name of The Spirit many, many moons ago during a pre-dissertation writing break. The décor was nearly all blue, white, and grey, with a theme directly inspired by the Eisner strips - including blow-ups of panels. They even used to give out promo stickers featuring the character (I may still have a couple of those in the Archives somewhere).

From all accounts, although it's still there (http://www.coffeeshop.freeuk.com/Spirit.html) it's changed a great deal over the years. And probably not for the better...
