Ella Puckerman-Fabray's earliest memory was of her family. they were singing; they did that a lot and her family was a happy one. it was all she knew. However, when she started kindergarten she realised that they weren’t like other families and as she got older that became more and more apparent. Her Mom and Pa had her when they were 16 and her Mom’s parents had kicked her out. This meant they were in high school and had a kid, but they didn’t want to drop out of high school like so many teenage parents so their friends and fellow glee club members had helped out and they had become her family.
There was her Dad who wasn’t her biological dad like her Pa but he was a Dad, he had stuck next to her Mom though thick and thin. At the end of the day they were high school sweethearts, and as far as she knew that type of love was for life. He was the one who she could run to when everything got too much and she couldn’t talk to anyone else, and no matter how big or small the problem he would hold her in his big bear hug and all her problems would go away. He was also the one who would take her for the biggest Sunday any one could imagine, when she wasn’t meant to have one.
Then there was her Pa who now lived in New York City with her Uncle Kurt, her biological father and super hero, he was the one who threatened to beat up all the boys who broke her heart, even if he was in another state and gave her, her first sip of beer at 12, much to the anger of her Mom, Maddy and Dad when they found out, but he was adamant that if she went to a party at 16 she would have enough tolerance to alcohol to remember to use a condom and not end up pregnant at 16, no matter how much sex it cost him.
Her Uncle Kurt, or Maddy, as she affectionately called him, was the strongest person she knew. he was also the best dressed; well that happened when you were one of mode top 10 designers to watch, and had just had had his first order with Bloomingdales. Her Maddy was the one who ensured she always looked amazing, took her shopping for her prom dress and would spoil her rotten with shopping trips when she went to visit him and her Pa in New York over the holidays.
Her Mom always says she was the best accident that ever happened to her, and was the proudest when she became the Head Cheerleader at 16, then preceded to explain about contraception because history was not repeating itself; her daughter was not losing out on the experiences she had, even if she won’t swap her for the world. protection was a much better message then abstinence, because thats how people get pregnant, as she well knew. They fought like there was no tomorrow, but at the end of the day her Mom had given up everything for her and she would always love her mommy than anything in the world.
When ever she was visiting her Dad and Maddy in New York they would visit her Aunt Rachel, she was totally crazy and a complete diva but she taught Ella how to stand up and be the best person she could be; she was her shining star, and would totally let Ella belt out Defying Gravity while she was getting ready to rock the house as Elphaba herself.
Aunt Tina and Uncle Artie allowed her to be a geek, to run around the house having light sabre fights and singing to bad pop music, they would feed her pizza and by her the latest gadgets for Christmas. They were her geek price and gothic princess, they showed her that no matter what her problems she could work though them and become a real girl, it didn’t matter if you couldn’t walk or didn’t know that colour existed as along as you were you and were confident and that you could be happy.
Aunt Brittany and Santana were the two woman who would spoil her rotten even more so than her Maddy, they would help her with boys and tell her the best move for a cheer, they were insane and so in love, and her happy place as you couldn’t be unhappy when Aunt Brittany was around.
Aunt Mercedes, was a Diva and taught her not to accept crap form any boy, and not to let the stick thin idiots she went to school with stop her eating, she was strong and proud and the best gossip partner a girl could ask for. She had taught her that it didn’t matter where she had some from she should be proud of her crazy mixed up heritage and she was.
Her Uncles Mike and Matt weren’t around as much as everyone else but they did sent the best birthday and xmas presents, they always seemed to be a competition between them when it came to who could get the best present. Their other favourite game was to see who could annoy her Mom most and get her the most hyper, then leave which ever parent she was with the deal with the mess.
They had all had a part in raising her and shaping who she was. So when her name was announced so to give the at her graduation - no one was surprised at the list of achievements after it. “Ella Puckerman-Fabray - Head Cheerleader, New Direction’s lead vocalist, honour roll student and Valedictorian”
“Dear parents, Teachers and my fellow students, We stand here today at the beginning of the rest of our life,The days of high school behind us, and the world is in front of us. Our Futures. We will be heading out to college and jobs and making our way in the world making a difference.
But we should never forget where we come from, the family that shaped us and that family for the last 4 years has been McKinley High School.
Like all families we have had our differences. We have the popular one, who it always seems to go their way, the ones who are always in the middle trying to smooth everything out and the ones who doesn’t seem to fit in, the black sheep who have been dragged to the party by their parents. And while we think we could do it with out the other we couldn’t we all needed each other, we wouldn’t be the class of 2028 without the cheerleaders, and the band geeks and Alex who hasn’t let go of his camera for the last four years.
My Family is the perfect example of that. I have 12 proud parents, 12 people who even though they didn’t give birth to me or donate DNA, shaped my life. I have cheerleaders and Football players, geeks and losers, Divas and dorks, they say it takes a village and that what we have here a village, a melting pot, don’t forget where you come from. When people put you down, or things don’t go your way, think about the people who you know. People who have helped shape you and pick your self up, and think you’re a part of a large family who love you, and go out into this world and succeed like I know every single one of you will. Go out there and be your fabulous selves and never forget you have a family whom are proud of you.
Congratulations Class of 2028…. We made it!”
As she stared out into the crowd, watching her peers cheer and celebrate, she was only looking for one sight; her 12 proud parents, the people who couldn’t be prouder of their daughter. Each one of them could see little part of them selves in her and they would all agree she had gotten the best bits. There was no doubt about that.

“Jackson John Hummel-Puckerman get your little hinney over here now young man.” Shouted Kurt Hummel. he didn’t know how but his son had some how inherited the sprit of a teenage Puck, and all the charm and trouble that came with it. Slapping the ass of the waitress that was serving them was the newest in a long list of offences, that was going to prematurely age him.
“Noah Puckerman, you come here and help or I will make your life not worth living.”
Noah who has his arm wrapped proudly around his graduate daughter looked over and rolled his eyes at his partner before said daughter opened her mouth and said “better go help him, other wise you won’t get to see me graduate college as he will have killed you”
“Fine, fine, I’m going to deal with the hell that is your brother. I’m so proud of you Honey, you did more than I ever could with high school” he said getting from his chair and stalking towards his partner and son.
“ohhh, right now I am so glad I don’t have kids, because your brother, is evil” said her Aunt Mercedes slipping into the seat her Pa had left. “Girl, you did good, and right now I would play up the fact that you are a) the good child and b) managed to leave high school without one.” She chuckled. “you never know what you could get with that, if you played that …..” she was cut off as her phone rang. Giving a heavy sigh she answered. “This better be good because he has now missed the ceremony and if you haven’t rang to tell me he’s in The ER your may just be fired. What do you mean not coming? put Mr Big on as I want to hear from that bastard mouth myself!”
“Finn put him down, the longer you hold him upside down the more likely he is to throw up and I am not cleaning that up.” came the rather annoyed tone of her mothers voice.
"ahhh come one he’s having fun and its not like last I haven’t let him have anything to eat yet. I wont do it after we’ve eaten.” Pleased Finn back to his wife, his 5 year old son Ryan was hanging from his ankles other his fathers back and looked to be having a whale of a time.
The two continue to squabble over their son and didn’t see there 8 year old daughter receiving the same treatment form her uncles Matt and Mike, who were making matters worse by swinging the girl back and forth While she chanted “Again, again, again!”
“ahhhh come one San you know you want one” said Brittany in the tone of voice no one could say no to, she had Ella's 2 year old sis Lea in her arms. “Look at her! she's so cute and a squishy and I want one!” the blond said, pouting.
“But Brit honey” said Santana “you and me and a babe wouldn’t work, they don’t like me.”
“I want one.” demanded Brittany again.
And with one last look at her partner, Santana sighed, “okay.”
“Hush little baby, don't say a word,
Daddy's gonna buy you a mockingbird,
And if that mockingbird won't sing,
Daddy's gonna buy you a diamond ring.” Came the smooth silky tones of Artie Abrams rocking his tow year old twin boys back and forth in his wheel chair trying to get them to steal down enough to sleep. While his wife Tina argued with their 5 year old daughter Cory.
“If I have told you once sweetie, I have told you a 1000 times, if you can see it on TV doesn’t mean you can do it so that means no jumping from tables, okay. Even if dad calls you super girl.”
“But Mom...” came the whine back.
“Elle, Elle, help me !help me! help me! Maddy is MAD!” screamed the voice of her little brother who came to hide behind her chair, her Uncle Kurt chasing after the 4 year old.
“sorry bro, he looks mad, you need to do this one on your own” she said to him as he ran off again into the crow that is her family. This was her village, her melting pot, it was controversial and crazy, but you know what she wouldn’t change them for the world.
