Hello all. You didn't know I was alive, but I am.
Quick recap of what I'm doing.
Preparing for Germany. Class. My life is boring.
I've watched Gundam 00 Last Exile, D.Gray-man, Letter Bee, and... probably a bunch of other stuff that's awesome. The aforementioned are awesome by the way. I recommend them.
Caveat: D.Gray-man and Letter Bee do this annoying thing where a lot of their first season (or 1st stage in the case of D.Gray-man) is a lot of filler and not enough plot. You keep watching them knowing that they'll get better, but it's a lot of effort sometimes. And then someone flips a switch and it's like nonstop win. I made an abridged guide to them so you can just skip all the dumb fillers. I may post it later.
Speaking of D.Gray-man, let's all high-five for the canon male/male couple, Alma/Kanda. That was just the neatest arc (in my opinion). That love is really genuine. They don't give a damn about one another's gender, they love each other's soul. Which for me is kinda the point of the whole LGBT movement. Gender doesn't matter, the soul does. Nevermind that I'm atheist and don't actually believe in souls. Details. (Actually, I just wrote an essay about Kanda's sexuality for my Human Sexuality class. It was fun.)
Also, as I was watching the D.Gray-man anime, I was genuinely surprised that I honestly interpreted Lavi as bisexual. It was weird. Usually when I ship a non-canon couple (especially of the male/male variety), it's, let's be honest, wishful thinking or playing up a dynamic that's already there. With Lavi, while he's more open about his attraction to women (probably because it's more accepted), I genuinely saw him as being attracted to both genders. In the anime especially, I swear he has a bit of a crush on Allen. So what am I doing with this?
I'm writing fanfic, of course. It's been a while and I'm probably a little rusty. Not finished yet and neither have titles. The first one is an in-universe story about Lavi crushing on both Lenalee and Allen and of course trying to juggle that with his duties as a Bookman. The other is a high school AU inspired by a dream I had last night. (Allen yells at Lavi, "You didn't even cry at your parents' funeral" after Lavi fail-comforts Allen after a friend of theirs dies.) Already wrote a bunch. The second one is a friendship fic, though. Unless it decides that there must be some hardcore making out. But probably not.
I really want to write a story exploring Lavi's other personas, especially Deak. (Is there anyone else that thinks it should be spelled Deke? That seems like an actual name. But most fanfic writers spell it the other way, so until I can confirm how they spell it in the official English manga, it'll be Deak. Not that the English manga is always right because they changed Devitto to David, which is just lame, but whatever.) Because Deak seems kinda... evil. Which was probably just Road's manipulation, but wouldn't it be interesting if that's how he actually was?
Um, I should probably do some Russian homework now. Ciao.
