I have my students doing research on scholarships and grants and some students are saying: "I don't need money. My parents are paying for me to go to college."

I've practically yelling at them, "If someone offers you free money, no strings attached, YOU TAKE IT!" And they're looking me like "why?"
One even said, "I'd rather spend my own money than someone else's."
