Where have I been?!?!?!
Sorry yall, I temporarily cut off my LJ...I needed to take a break from things like this...so anyways....hmmm what's new with me???
Well...
I have been in Taos, NM for a week now studying and working at our campus out here...It's so beautiful here. I'll admit, I was a little worried about the *quietness* of Taos for a while but as soon as I got here, it didn't matter because the scenery is just that awesome. Words can NOT describe Taos' beauty.
The thing that can kind of suck about being here is that the nightlife isn't that fantastic...why do I say that? Well,
I'm fiiiiiinally 21!!!!!
:) I've been legal for a week now and have had tons of fun with my SMU friends here in Taos. On my birthday we went to the Adobe Bar then the 21 year olds headed out to the Alley Cantina, which is famous among the locals and tourists. I must say, it was a pretty kick ass birthday :) I had 4 drinks that night (which with this altitude equals 10-12 in Dallas...oh my!) so needless to say I was pretty good to go. The live band sang to me and us SMU girls definitely made our mark at that bar!! ();)
But of course that hasn't been all I have been doing!!!
I'm taking a non-profit writing class and am interning at a research center in town, helping them with their communications. Our professor is awesome and such an inspiration. More and more each day I am becoming sure that I want to develop a Non-Profit Organization that reaches out to minorities, helping them get into college. I know that SMU will prepare me well for this, especially after this summer!! The journalistic writing is tedious, but I know that that's where I need to start to get to where I want to go.
Other than the class I've hiked in the mountains, rock-climbed, have been learning tennis and have met some incredible people. Can you believe it?? Little ol' me (Miss Priss) is actually enjoying the outdoors!!! Haha, and Taos/NM is so pet friendly that I SWEAR, by the time I get out of here I will no longer be afraid of dogs!!!
We've only been here for a week but I already miss it because the time is just flying by!!
