Forgive another owl post...
I uploaded a few birthday pics to thegarlicbite's Flickr group for her baby's first day on earth, and I think this one was the most interesting thing that happened to me and my family that day. :D
On that day, Molly the Barn Owl and her mate McGee, residents of an owl box in a San Marcos CA backyard, were quite the internet celebrities. I was just about to leave work when I snapped the screen here, and note the tab in the upper left - thegarlicbite had just recently made the announcement! By the time I got home, Molly's second chick, Pattison, had hatched, watched by more than 17,000 people. He/she joined sibling Max who hatched two days before.

(There are now four chicks - Max, Pattison, Austin and Wesley - and one egg remaining to be hatched. I actually got to see Wesley hatch last Sunday. Molly was sitting there quietly, and all of sudden she jumped straight up and turned around, and there he was with the shell cracked in half. She helped him get the rest of the way out.)
