The next person who, after I profess my love of jacaranda trees, complains about what big mess they make, I'm going to tell them they're a gigantic wussy. Try a Moreton Bay Fig, a couple of months out of the year. Especially after it's rained and everyone in the neighborhood has walked their dogs through the squish-edness.
They are little tiny figs, about the size of a blueberry. They actually smell faintly like Fig Newtons, but they're all seeds.
Nevertheless, I still love this tree. We have no air conditioning, and its shade is one of the reasons our house can stay fairly cool in the afternoons of summer/fall.
