so thanks for everyone who's helped me out over the past few weeks, whether it was turning me on to job ops or listening to me bellyache and most of all letting me crash on your couch... thanks to everyone.
so my job.
my Grandma actually scored this one for me. she has a friend who's adopted an autistic boy with her partner, and they need someone to just hang out and be a buddy to him a few days a week for a few hours. His name is Nick, and when his mom, Kathy, asked me if I played video games, you should have seen him light up when I had to reply "oh, absolutely!" Nick seemed pretty cool with me, which was great since I would have felt weird taking the job if there seemed to be any hint of awkwardness... more for Nick's sake than my own really. And Nick's other mom, Kim, was so impressed by how much their one dog, Sara, loved me! I did the tracksuit thing today (like there's a day I don't...) and I guess poor Sara has issues with men in black (was she abducted? how much more lame can I get?) but she sat right next to me and planted and just gave me that look like "well c'mon, you know you want to pet me!" So anyhow, I work sundays 9-5, not this monday but usually MWF 8-noon and get paid 9 bucks an hour. to play video games! sincerely, I dunno if there was conspiracy afoot or anything, but they pretty much made it out like if I was down for playing video games with Nick, that's about all we'd do. He has an Xbox, and an Xbox360, and a PSP, so that's pretty cool. I have my dreamcasts and todd's gamecube hanging around here, along with my PS2 and my laptop, so that could be cool to use as behavioral leverage maybe? or just a cool treat now and then. But he has a 360, so I dunno why he'd want to play crappy old systems. But I like em.
so next week i'm going to make about 140 bucks. that's awesome, and i guess i'll be making around 180 bucks a week on average. I don't think I've ever made as much money before... and I don't really have like a solid schedule either! just a few days out of the week, part-time.
I'm excited to start tomorrow, it's a 9-5, and I'm going to be watching him at the riverhouse they have in Le Claire.
