Well, droogs, I had meant to make this update while still at home and with wireless internet connect--and thus also in a recumbent position--but such is not the case. I'll give a quick run-down of my Thanksgiving break:
- I botched my Chemistry test last Wednesday, or so I am inclined to believe. The Lewis dot structure for xenon tetrafluoride gave me some trouble, and other snags were present too. In any event, my grandfather and father came to pick me up, and the three of us went to eat at a place called "Tracks," a restaurant with an overarching train theme. I had a club sandwich and some french fries. My dad and I parted ways with my grandfather and went to the Allen outlet mall where we met up with my mother and sister. I bought two Fossil T-shirts. My dad told me about a "digitally remastered" version of "King Kong" that premiered on TV the week before, and that whetted my desire to see it and Peter Jackson's version. Peter Jackson has really dropped quite a bit of weight since Lord of the Rings. Upon arrival at home I played Snake vs. Monkey, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, and Goldeneye for a time. I met Grant and Marissa that evening at Loews Keystone to see "Walk the Line". I was really impressed with Reese Witherspoon's performance, not to discredit that of Joaquin Phoenix by any means. Also, to me at least, she was very attractive as a brunette. After that I went with my dad and sister to see "Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire." I'd attest to what's been said by many up to this point as its being the best book adaptation up to this point, far more fair to its source material than, say, "Prisoner of Azkaban."
- I went with my family to Bonham for Thanksgiving with my mother's side of the family. I attempted to finish reading Good Work on the way up, but I succombed to car sleepiness. My sister and I had fun driving the golf cart and discussing above "Goblet of Fire," and dinner itself was rather gratifying.
- On Friday I played Banjo-Kazooie for some reason, all while listening to my dad's vociferous stamping and thrashing two rooms over brought upon by the A&M vs. UT game. After that I went with my family to the Garland playoff game in Waco. I saw Grant and sat with him for the majority of the game. I ran into several other Garland alumni while there also.
- My mom, after having raised the moot question of what would transpire in the Fetzer household Saturday, suggested going to Stonebriar mall and Steak 'n Shake. Ikea was also added in. I thoroughly enjoyed the outing. I liked looking at Dragon Quest VIII at EB; that might have to be a purchase after school is out, if not solely for the FFXII demo. Barnes and Noble was a pleasant experience as well; I happened to see Reading Lolita in Tehran amongst the biograhies. My dad and I found an Anne Murray Christmas CD and bought it. Upon coming home, my dad and I went on a walk. I read some in my Biology book once back at the house, watched parts of "Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom" with my parents, and played more Banjo-Kazooie
- I really liked the sermon at church this morning. Mark 13: 32-37 has the potential to speak volumes, if not just pragmatism. I saw Rusty and Aaron Campbell and went to Hubbard's with them. My mom had made cinnamon roll "bites" in the morning, so I was content with a biscuit and a glass of orange juice. I came home, ate lunch, read more in Biology, went with my dad to Sam's to buy dorm provisions for the next two weeks, including a Manheim Steamroller CD that I ripped to my laptop, and then left for Sherman once more. My dad and I delighted ourselves with peppermint mocha frappuccinos on the ride back. I completed the Heritage reading, and really liked the word "parenthrysos," the Greek term for hyperbolic art. I'll make sure to add it to my list of book titles/chapters such as "poshlust" and "delphinium."
- Sarah watched every Fullmetal Alchemist episode over the break. Gah. That's still upsetting to me, but only in a mocking sort of way.
