While 2020 was a horrid year, pop culture was shining. The Album of the Year category is the most competitive in years with new releases from The Chicks, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, The Killers and Alanis Morissette all competing for the prize.
Mexican Manolo Caro appeared out of nowhere with his shows/movies winning 12 nominations. The last-minute decision to submit the three-episode miniseries Alguien tiene que morir as a movie and not a series was because it flowed as a movie, not as a series, and it helped him garner more nominations.
The awards will be presented live via social media (due to the pandemic).
