Between history and glory.

Summer used to knock me upside the head around the first week in July, when I would finally notice that I had managed to do exactly nothing for an entire month, and half of the time, not counting a few weeks, before school started had already gone to waste. Because of my trip to China, it feels like I just got through the usual inactive period, and I am not at all ready for it to be August yet.

This summer is precious in a way, if you think about it; I, and those of you that graduated with me, don't have anything we have to do this summer. It doesn't go on the record. Not like it sort of did in high school, for those of us that were using college as a way to get out of Gainesville, and we aren't obligated yet to have internships and research positions so as to better enter the cutthroat professional world of your choosing. This is one last warm season to devote to something truly nice and fine. A smudge near the corner of the plot.

It's weird because I don't have anything in particular to occupy me right now, and that hasn't been true for ages, not with the World Cup last summer, various anime and manga series in past years, and books before that. Fandomless, if you would. It's odd, but nice enough, I suppose.

I'm trying to read more while I can, before academia sucks out my mind and soul, and I'm keeping on with trying to become a more useful person. (I did consider getting a second job, but really, I always have better things to do.) And as for another thing, I know I haven't been a very good friend, nor for that matter a particularly good human being, for an awfully long time, but I have a lot of ideas for short films, photowhoring, embarassing cosplay and epic journeys, and I would like to do something fun together this summer, if you guys are interested!
