And it's nice that Ultraman transforms by eating candy - at least he doesn't need to worry that his transformation item will look silly.
I kind of liked that the kid's name is Mirai - it's a nice name, and it was fun to imagine that they gave him that name after Mebius left Earth to remember Mebius's identity - but, of course, it's not true, since the advertisement was made before Mebius.
Also, I can't stop saying the word nice and doing the thumbs-up gesture D:
(Re-post, because I did it in a wrong place. ^^;; Opening too many windows would do this to me.)
Yes, they were nice commercials. :)
That's a good point there about no silly-looking transformation item. Though it isn't like an Ultra host usually cares about that (I mean, Ultraman Zearth's host transforms by brushing his teeth with a toothbrush); it's the viewer who worries. ^^;;
The entry might imply otherwise, but I actually don't mind that the kid's name is Mirai. It was just a bit...I don't know...confusing? Like I kept superimpose Mebius' image on this kid every time I heard the name? But that's probably just me. Either way, I like your suggestion a lot, and might have to pretend that is the case. ^^
I didn't do the thumbs-up, but at least I sort of cheered whenever they did it while saying 'nice'. ^^;;
Hmm, that's a pretty cool idea about the toothbrush - the show's target audience are young viewers, so that would be a perfect way to make them aware of the importance of dental hygiene :D
But then again, it's better to have a transformation item - what if he ran out of transformation candy?
It was the same for me, I was like - but there is only one Mirai!
Yes, it's actually pretty neat that they were teaching kids about personal hygiene in an Ultraman show. But it took me back the first time I heard about a toothbrush being a transformation item.
But transformation items can go missing, too. I think the original Ultraman once lost his and couldn't transform. There had been at least a few more people careless with their transformation items, though I don't remember off-handed who they were.
Yeah, it does seem kind of funny when you think about it. But then I guess these series aim to teach a lesson, and in that case it was not just a moral lesson, but also practical advice.
Really? That's kind of odd - when you think about it, surely it is not the item that gives Ultraman his power, but Ultraman's own soul, or whatever. Maybe the items help him to concentrate the power, but he should be able to transform without any items, if the situation is really bad - danger increases the ability to concentrate...
Well, there is only one Ultraman that I know of who doesn't need any transformation device. (And I think those Ultramen who just take human disguises (Seven, Mebius, etc.) shouldn't need transformation items either.) Still, I agree with you, that if the situations are urgent enough, they should be able to transform without their items. (Not being able to transform seems to be some kind of a lesson to the hero to not misplace his important belonging.)
Hmm, interesting, even such an odd plot point can teach a lesson... Also, the use of transformation items probably makes the series more visually appealing - one can add special effects and that sort of thing, it looks better than the hero just suddenly turning into Ultraman :D
I was actually just guessing at that lesson. ^^;; Anyway, the way the hero recovers his transformation item usually has to do with series of coincidences that just makes me shake my head (because the guy probably is never going to learn to be more careful if his important belonging gets returned to him by sheer luck).
True, but the one without a transformation device seems to do his transformation as elaborately as anyone else (or even more, actually). Well, I suppose there is no normal transformation in Ultra series. :D
