2006: The Year of Learning Love, 2007: ?

Jan 01, 2007 18:05

stolen from Ben Hassenger:

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Well, I opted out of an acting part in a show, designed a set, ate fire for an audience, went to Toronto and London, Ontario, made-out in an elevator, bought lacy lingerie, drove a jet-ski, drove by myself, got throw-up drunk, had an accident with a power tool, rode a bus across the country, went to Indianapolis.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes and yes. Only one though.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin Tony and his wife Adrianne had their first child, Addison.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
I don't think so. No.

5. What countries did you visit?
Canada.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Better grades and more sanity.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory?
3/26-3/27: last days in Savannah
?: the day I cut my thumb
8/?: the last day in London w/ the Popsicle

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Dating Dan, because it meant not only that I was completely over Curtis, but that I was once again comfortable enough to be in a relationship again without fear that he was going to break my heart a month later.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Maybe my grade in Spanish. A D- it kind of destroys a lot of possibilities for me and I'm disappointed in myself.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I nearly cut off my thumb with a table saw. It didn't hurt that bad actually.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Christ, I don't know. Maybe my camera. Perhaps my fire-eating torches.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
All of my friends. Especially those who made me feel better after Curtis and I broke up.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Curtis' at first. When I was still hurting. Part of it still makes me want to smack him upside the head but not really appalled anymore.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Books and food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My externship. It was well worth it. I had a great time.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
let me come back to this....

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or Sadder?: Oh dear. Compared to this exact time last year? Very close to the same because last year it was  a month and a half into my relationship with Curtis. Now it's a month and a half into my relationship with Dan.  Well, last year on New Years I was pissed at Curtis so... Happier!
ii. Thinner or Fatter?: Pretty much the same if not exactly.
iii. Richer or Poorer?: Even though I barely have any money, I would say richer, because I do have a job. Thankfully it's a job that I like.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Studying.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being heartbroken and depressed.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Hell if I know. It's January. Probably the same way as always though.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Yes. Maybe twice.

23. How many one-night stands?
Just one. But I think we agreed it counted as a date.

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Without a doubt, House.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. I try my hardest not to hate.

26. What was the best book you read?
That's a toughie. Best play was The Balcony by Jean Genet. The best book was either Ishmael by Daniel Quinn or Terrier by Tamora Pierce.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Regina Spektor

28. What did you want and get?
A good (romantic) relationship.

29. What did you want and not get?
My Driver's Licence

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
V for Vendetta

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went to get my cell phone and I turned 19. My birthday present (not on my birthday) was the Guster Concert.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I'm going to say my driver's licence.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Kind of indie. Tight pants that flare out at the bottom. Tight shirts, sometimes with a long sleeve underneath. Usually having something interesting on them.

34. What kept you sane?
Richard, Nassau, Jaime, Ross and Dan.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Clive Owen or Hugh Laurie.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Maybe affirmative action

37. Who did you miss?
Curtis.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Daniel of course! Which one? Both actually.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Something about relationships. It has something to do with Curtis and something to do with both Daniels but I have no idea how to articulate it or if it even is one specific thing.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
This comes the closest. Substitute her for him.

What You Wish For - Guster
Woke up today to everything grey
And all that I saw just kept goin on and on
Sweep all the pieces under the bed
Close all the curtains and cover my head
And what you wish for won't come true
You aren't surprised love, are you?
If this serenade is not what you want
It's just how it is, it keeps goin on and on
Come out, come out where ever you are
Would you do it all over right from the start
And what you wish for won't come true
You aren't suprised love, are you?
So what you wish for won't come true
You aren't surprised love, are you?
Once had this dream, crashed down in Oz
Not black and white, but where the colors are
I never dreamed that I would let her go
And I will get what I deserve
Keep all the secrets under the bed
Open the curtains, forget what I said
And what you wished for could come true
You aren't surprised love, are you?
So what you wished for could come true
You aren't surprised love, are you?
