Been forgetting this for a few days, but here we go again. Enjoy.
01 - Your current favorite game
02 - The most underrated game you’ve ever played
03 - A game that makes you really happy
04 - A game that made you sad
05 - A game that really reminds you of someone
06 - Favorite flash/internet game
07 - The most surprising game plot twist or ending
08 - A game that you’ve played countless times
09 - A game with the best soundtrack
All these years later I still love the soundtracks for Shining: The Holy Ark and Shining Force 3. And well, most of Motoi Sakuraba's stuff, but those two the most.
I have to make a special honorable mention though. Yu-Gi-Oh Capsule Monster Coliseum on PS2. I picked that game up way back when I was playing the affiliated Children's Card Game because it had a nice promo card in it. I was bored one day back before I had a tremendous queue of games(was there such a time?) and I realized that I still had the game for whatever reason so I gave it a shot... and holy shit, it's gotta have one of the most epic OSTs ever. Seriously, just give this a listen:
10 - Favorite Retro game
I loved the first Castlevania to death, even if my young whippersnapper self had a lot of rage toward it for being difficult.
11 - A game that changed your opinion about something
This is a tough one. I guess most recently Heavy Rain actually managed to switch Sean and I to the opposite sides of our usual "gameplay vs. story" debate. Best movie I've ever played.
12 - A game that you hate
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and the entire Tekken series are both public enemies on my list, and I cannot understand the popularity of either.
Starting with MvC2, it has like a hundred bajillion bugs and glitches. It's also obviously broken as fuck. I mean sure, with 50 something characters I wouldn't expect perfect balance. But I'd expect more than 4 characters to actually be playable. Hell, one of said 4 characters(Cable) is only really playable because of his ability to one-hit kill the ENTIRE OPPOSITE TEAM out of nowhere, thus pulling wins completely out of his ass. I recall seeing a tournament vid where one guy was totally dominating the whole match, and had the opponent down to just Cable, who was at like 1 pixel of health... then suddenly triple Hyper Viper Beam and the 1-pixel-of-life Cable won the whole match out of nowhere. The stupidity of it was nothing short of astounding.
As for Tekken, it's also painfully broken. Especially Tekken 6, where pretty much everybody in the game has a 100% damage combo when enraged. It's actually become so stupid that from what I hear, a tournament viable strategy in Tekken 6 is to NOT ATTACK. Yes, a fighting game where you win by not attacking, because if you do too much damage to the other guy he'll be able to pull a 100% combo on you, so instead you poke him once to get ahead on life, then run away until you win on time over. And let's not forget the way Tekken was before they added this rage thing. Since almost anyone in old games could juggle for like 75% off any launcher, matches consisted more of dancing back and forth, jabbing on rare occasion, until one of the two players happened to land their particular launcher move twice.
Pay-to-play MMOs, particularly World of Warcraft, get honorable mention.
13 - A game that is a guilty pleasure
...Probably the new generation of Shining Force games, those being Neo and EXA. Mostly EXA, and not so much. Neo had the problem of being relentlessly, unforgivably, ridiculously difficult. Neo had a very unique game flow: You start the game and you die. Then you load the game and you die. Then you load again and you die. And you repeat this many times until you get past the first area. Then you get to the second area and you die. And you load the game and you die. Etc. etc. etc. until you somehow beat the game after dying like 400 million times.
I really really liked EXA though, even though most people don't seem to like it. You can actually get hit without dying in EXA, holy shit. Cyrille being awesome doesn't hurt either.
14- A game that no one would expect you to love
If you know me, you know that I generally don't like FPSes much. However, I loved Resistance. Enough to preorder the sequel, even, which ended in massive amounts of disappointment.
