Dear Friends,
I've actually survived here in Oaxaca for a little over a month now. It's coming slowly, but I really AM learning Spanish. I knew classroom and native Spanish were a lot different, but com'on, this gap is ridiculous.
Tomorrow I'm getting transferred to a new area of Oaxaca. Considering there's 16 dialects of Spanish in Oaxaca, and the missionaries have to deal with about 2 or 3 of them, I'm really hoping I don't get sent to one of these areas. Maybe once I have Spanish under my belt, but until then, one new language at a time, thank-you-very-much.
The cold showers aren't so bad anymore. You'd be amazed by how little water you can take a full shower with. My feet don't hurt anymore, either, which is nice. Waking up at 6:30 every morning is fairly easy, too. As you can see, I'm slowly but surely adapting to my new life here in Mexico. Again, I really hope that not too many things change when I get to my new area tomorrow (I won't know until tomorrow where I'm going or who I will be with).
I think that's about it. Again I'll reiterate how grateful for all the mail I get. It takes a while to respond and for the mail to get back to people, but I do respond to every letter (and package! :D) that is sent to me. Thank you so much for all your support. Every letter brings that Christmas smile to my face, seriously. I love them all!
Have a great day, and whatever you all may be doing, do it well!
Love,
Elder McKendrick
