Today is the day.

Today is the day for my nostril piercing. I have desired such a thing since I was in eighth grade, and I think four years is long enough to want something before you get it. It will be in the right nostril, because that nostril doesn't mush up against someone's face when you kiss them, and because I have a horrible under-the-skin red spot on the left side of my nose which does not need ornamentation to draw additional attention to it. Yes, the spot was a factor in my decision, because the spot is not a passing squatter--it's been there for years, and shows no signs of moving on. I think it's built itself a nice two-bedroom ranch.

Yesterday, I met my roommate. We met at Ruby Tuesday's in the mall, and she was right on time, which made me happy. At first, it seemed like she was trying her hardest to be painfully normal...but as soon as I said something about me being a "major dork", she smiled and exclaimed "me too!". I told her I didn't believe her, but it was the start of a happy evening nevertheless. She is very, very nice...but not annoyingly so, because she curses a lot, and is somewhat obsessive compulsive when it comes to what she eats, wears, and experiences (i.e. she won't eat anything more complex than chicken fingers, because she "doesn't know exactly what's in it"). She was concerned that these would be the things I wouldn't like about her, but in fact, it is quite the opposite and I am SO glad that she's got a bit of strangeness to her. Also, she was genuinely interested in getting to know me, and I can tell she's one of those people who truly does care about her friends--and really, that's all that matters. That we'll respect each other. There are a lot of things about us that are different--the way we dress, the way we generally spend our time, and probably our philosophies on things in general...but, that's cool, and she even said "I can't stand people who are exactly like me". She also said it'll be nice that we won't have the EXACT same group of friends, because this way if we get in a fight with our own seperate friends, we'll still have each other to talk to :-).

I thought that was a very astute observation. No wonder she got a 5 on the AP chemistry test. Yeah...did Rody even get a 5? Maybe so, but this girl's wicked smart. I'm so excited.

Oh, but what did surprise me is that she listens to Guster, Sublime, and Dave Mathews Band. If you met the girl, you'd definately pin her as more of a "party music" type--not that there's anything wrong with that, though. I just think it's cool...cos like, if you looked at me, you would IMMEDIATELY infer that I listen to Pete Yorn. And I do. Oh, and one more thing...though her religious background doensn't much matter to me, it will matter to Lindsay; my roommate is of the Jewish faith. I know this because she mentioned that her sister's birthday fell on Yom Kippur, and I'll admit, being a Gentile, the average non-Jew would not know the exact date of Yom Kippur. All in all, I think we're really going to get along, and I think she's a neat person. *squeals hideously*

I just remembered (calendar) that I'm getting my haircut at 1:30 on August 10th...I'm an asshole. That's okay though. It won't take all day.
