s of yesterday, I have a new goal. For the next 99 days I will only be using my new laptop for all my comouting needs. Why is this a challenge, you ask? First, it's insanely small - that means chicklet-sized keys and a screen about the size of one on an atm. Next, it's very limited on memory - after operating system and software, only about 1gb of free space. Finally, it runs a version of Linux. While I'm a fan, I also know that living a Linux life in a Windows world can sometime lead to some serious headache.
Why am I doing this? Two reasons. First, because my laptop is totally sweet, so shut up. Second, I greatly dislike the technology administrator at school, and I would consider it non-violent protest to completely boycott her stupid computers at school.
I've already made great strides with this little champ. After some Googling, I discovered a semi-secret advanced desktop mode. It changes the interface to something that is much more similar to what I'm used to on my Ubuntu laptop. It's KDE instead of Gnome, but I'll survive. Here's what it looks like.
