strange new concoctions

I learned some interesting things today.

1. You cannot hard boil frozen eggs. They just come out funny. Or.. maybe it's 'cuz I started to boil them this morning and then finished this evening.

2. You can fry frozen eggs.

I do not know why my eggs were frozen. Maybe one of my housemates was trying to get back at me for leaving bananas out till they got brown and covered in fruit-flies. I guess I deserved it, but freezing my eggs??!

Anyway, I was running quite low on food today... I haven't gotten to the farmer's market in a while... so my meal ended up being very creative. I'm drinking a beer that I opened two weeks ago and left in the fridge. It still tastes good, maybe even better, than it did. (I don't know how to construct that sentence) and I took some rice home with me after our feast on Wednesday so I had to use that. I also had a block of cheddar cheese and some potatos, so I fried up a potato, heated the rice with some cheese mixed in, slopped some frozen eggs on top of the potatos, and then mixed them all together with a little more cheese. It's actually kinda good, maybe I should name it. Hmm, maybe you should help me name it :)

In other news... today we tried to rehearse the song and dance we're doing for our Tamil presentation. We were originally going to do it with live music but everyone got pretty frustrated and we decided to scrap that. I was minorly relieved because I'm still far too scared about playing in public - but also disappointed because I need to get over that. Then Sam (our teacher) insisted that we put together a song on our own - i.e., Foogan, Geoff and I. That's a little drum, a guitar, and a flute. Now if I were any sort of musician, it would work out quite well since Foogan has been a professional and Geoff is a music major, but the flute kinda sticks out like a sore thumb when it sucks, and it doesn't help that I'm monstrously self-conscious.

We tried to get out of it, but Sam insisted that we do something so we doodled around for a little while. We're gonna get together Monday and try to have something prepared for Wednesday. I'm skeptical, but I suppose I should just make a fool of myself and have it over with. Or have it begun with... because then I can continue to make a fool of myself until it some day (hopefully) stops being so foolish and starts being fun!

Tonight I'm going to a party themed "awkward" :) I decided to borrow Ian's awkward handshake, use inappropriate smiles, wear my shirt inside out, and leave my fly unzipped... or something. I hope it's a blast! Anna should be coming here around 11 from Ohio. She'll probably be tired from driving all day, but I can't miss this party. I already told her about it, but I'm probably gonna be there before she gets here so I'll have to call her and see if she'll be able to find it.

Tomorrow we're going to head for Chicago bright and early for the PITCHFORK FESTIVAL!!!!

Someone else from my Tamil class is going. I just found out today, and I have no idea if I'll even run into him there or what. Too bad I already bought my bus ticket and didn't get his phone number. SHIT.

Kanjana got some "saris" that I'm s'posed to try out tonight. Hopefully I'll like them :)

So, in short, all's well in the wisc-world. How are all of you?
