finally back online

Hey guys!

I haven't written for many days because I broke the internet at my house. No more wireless for us. Now I have to haul my computer around with me if I want to use it to go online so I don't do that very often. I just decided to rearrange my living room and to do so I had to unplug our router... my house mates weren't home so I just did it and when I reconnected everything, it didn't work. Then they told me that it doesn't like getting unplugged, so that's how I broke it. Pretty lame, but the living room is really chill now and people actually hang out in it. Before it was like a hallway and people threw their recycling in it and walked through it.

So yesterday I had a party at my house for the other Emily's birthday. She turned 21 and we made her birthday cook and chocolate chip cookies and some beer. Everyone from my class that was under thirty showed up, and so did our teacher! He's pretty awesome, he stayed for a couple hours and we were all getting worried that he wouldn't leave so we could smoke, but he did.

We were out on my screened in porch smoking and talking and listening to music and someone knocked on my unlocked apartment door, so I went over and answered it. It was a black cop and he asked if there were two young men there. I told him no, because I thought he was looking for somewhere that two young men live... and no young men live there. So he was very nice and I told him I'd turn the music down and he said he didn't want my name or nothin so if I'd just turn the music off it would be fine. So I did, and just as I went out on the porch to tell everyone what happened he yelled at us from outside. "This is officer Marco-Louis..." and before anyone else could say anything I was like, "Hey! It's me, you already talked to me" and he shined the flashlight up at my face and said, "Oh!" and got a little more friendly sounding, and then told me to come back down 'cuz he needed to talk to me.

I went down and met him in the stairwell and he said that it had been my apartment he was looking for because of some noise complaint so I told him we'd move inside and he left again.

Later when my house mates got home I found out that we aren't allowed to have more than 3 people outside on the porch at a time 'cuz the landlord doesn't want parties out there. I don't know who would've turned us in since my speakers aren't that loud and the landlord doesn't live around us, and I think it's pretty fucking sad that they couldn't tell us to be quiet themselves before calling the cops.

Anyway, it all went well. All the cookies I made disappeared and there's a lot of chunky chocolate cake left. Some beer too :).

I got an odd phone call from a cousin in Madison that I didn't know existed, but I shouldn't have answered the phone because I was in a doctor's appointment and couldn't talk. I haven't heard from her since and I hope she didn't think I was disinterested or rude because of that... But I'm going to try to get in touch with her pretty soon.

I've also gotten the names of some camp sites and a couple of kids from my class were interested in camping so we might spend a weekend out in tents soon! :)

I'm SO excited about India because everyone in the group gets along so well. It's going to be a blast, the only problem is that it might be more difficult to make Indian acquaintances and to start speaking Tamil since we all enjoy spending time together.

Emily already mentioned living with me... and I said that was a possibility but I also might live with Geoff, Catie, and Nate - so maybe we should just all live together. Even as I say that I really don't want to though. That would make it really hard to get into Indian culture.

I still haven't gone riding. I guess that's it for now. Let me know how you're doing!
