My black cat, Nio, has always been an aloof, independent and somewhat standoffish cat. He was always like that, right from the day I brought him and his sister, Vesta, home. Ves, along with every other one of my cats, are the complete opposite; they're friendly, love snuggles and pets and cuddling and demand as much attention and ridiculous baby talking as I can possibly supply them with.
But that was fine. Basically, Nio is a normal cat, like 99% of the rest of the cats in the world. They are supposed to be independent and aloof, right? Evolution has made them that way. Just... no one told the members of my pride, I guess. >>;
Anyway, I just let Nio be and he was happy being that way. I gave him food, treats, provided him with more toys than strictly necessary, and managed to sneak the occasional scritch once in a while. ♥
But then about a week ago when Nio caught the cold that is currently working its' way through the ranks of my cats, he suddenly decided that he really needed to be with me. He didn't want me to cuddle him, but he would hop up next to me and curl up in a ball by my side and just sleep. I guess for comfort, since he wasn't feeling well. Makes sense.
But that first time, when he spent about four hours sleeping next to me, seemed to change something.
Now, Nio-chuu seems to have it in his head that, HEY, cuddling and playing with me is actually kind of nice! =D
So the last few days, even though he's starting to get over the cold and feeling much better, he's been coming to me for pets and playtime and generally acting like the complete opposite of the way he has been ever since I got him. XD;;
I'm not complaining, of course. It's just so different and such a novelty that I guess I'm a bit flabbergasted by it. It's really nice, though. I find myself kind of hoping things keep on like this and he doesn't just go right back to being all standoffish again once he's 100% over his cold.
Fingers crossed, right? Haha. ♥
