So, there I was, finished with lunch, but with an urge to find something sweet as an after lunch treat. I looked in the fridge and then in the pantry... and voila! I found it!
A box of fortune cookies.
It was still sealed, and had been on sale for $1.20 when it was purchased. Not a bad deal for 12 sweet, folded, message-encasing cookies!
I found the scissors and cut open the plastic wrap, then opened the little pink box. Inside were the 12 individually wrapped golden cookies. I set the box on the counter and picked a cookie. After tearing open the little plastic pouch, I cracked open the cookie and pulled out the undoubtedly prophetic message...
"Financial opportunity lies ahead."
YES! I liked it!. (Who wouldn't?) It even made a little bit of sense given that I'd been researching and reading about internet marketing for a couple of hours already that day. Nevermind the previous three days. Ha.
I walked back to the computer and was pondering what opportunity could possibly lie ahead-I had an inkling-when I realized that the cookie had been too good to have just one. So back to the kitchen I went.
I decided to have some coffee with the next cookie, so I got out a nice floral cup that had been a gift from my best friend at Christmastime last year. The coffee was waiting, so I poured it in until the mug was about two-thirds full. I got out the milk and Splenda and added those swiftly.
The mug of coffee was ready, now I only needed that second fortune cookie to pull me through. Again, I tore open the plastic pouch and cracked open the cookie. The message perplexed me.
"Knowledge of current events will help you."
Ummm... Okay? How will that one play out? I know a whole lotta nothing about current events. I had no idea.
But the cookies were trying to tell me something, obviously.
It is now my mission to figure out what the cookies meant when they told me, "Financial opportunity lies ahead," and, "Knowledge of current events will help you."
