The cause of suffering: The desire which leads to renewed existence
The cessation of suffering: The cessation of desire.

I used to think I could be buddhist, until I learned what the four noble truths were. I had read Ayn Rand; clearly the cause of joy was what we desire and its attainment.

If you take a moment to think carefully about what it means, totally and completely, to sacrifice all desires, you may understand what this year has done to me.
