Cotton Tzitzit!!!! (PSA/Shameless plug)

Dec 31, 2010 01:19

hatam_soferet recently posted about making your own female-shaped tallit katan. In the comments cotton tzitzit (and where to buy them) came up.

So after talking to hatam_soferet I plan on buying a bunch of unspun cotton and making a bunch of sets of cotton tzitzit. If you're interested, let me know (via comment or e-mail). I plan on making them all at the same time, so it would be good to get an idea of how many people want them (and how many people want) so I can order the appropriate amount of materials.

Note: It'll take a while since I have to get the cotton first. In the meantime, since I haven't spun much cotton, I'm practicing right now on some blue cotton I have lying around. So far I've been able to spin it pretty thin and it hasn't exploded. Also, I think the cotton that I'll be ordering will be better processed than the stuff I currently am working with, which will make it easier to spin. In any case, I might update this post with the results of my experiments, so you can see what it would look like, except blue that isn't techelet.

ETA: Post with pricing info.
