What is it with bath towels? They just get bigger and bigger. In the late 60s/early 70s (and I should say that I've used my own towel collection to give rough estimates) bath towels, at least in my part of the world, were about 23x39. I'm sure there were larger towels but the average person didn't buy them and one saw them mainly in hotels. Actually, I'm guessing, but I assume that hotel towels were larger. By 1990, bath towels were about 27x46. A towel I bought a couple of years ago is 25x52 and the towel I bought earlier this year is 29x57. I have a beach towel that dates from c 1970 and it's 33x64. Pretty soon, our towels will be beach towel size. Are we bigger? Do we get wetter? Will we have to raise the height of our towel bars? This requires a poll.
