I am sorry to report that life has been pretty dull lately. No parties, no naked escapades, nothing. How depressing is that?
The most fun I've had lately is hanging out on the ferry with the friends who work on it and the many wonderful people who ride the ferry and make it one of the best things in the region. Also I've had a few movie nights with Mr. Naro Cinema himself, Erik, and we watch wonderful movies, usually classics. The most recent one was "Lured", with Lucille Ball, and previous to that we watched an old Mae West film with London Hilton.
Other than that, life has been pretty monotonous. I stay at the apartment a lot, spend way too much time on-line, I go to church on Sundays, I make it to the gym at least four times a week, and that's my life. Oh, and I spend a lot of time wondering what life would be like if I ended up going to one school or another. I do funny things like check out parts of cities on Google Maps, check out what kind of architecture is where, learn where stuff like stores and parks and churches are, trying to get a pretty good grasp of those places that I'm not the most familiar with so I can have more wel-informed daydream sessions.
Aren't I silly?
And I worry about the stuff that is beyond my control, like whether schools get the transripts I ordered back in the middle of January or if all the letters of recommendation have arrived. It's sad that other people's actions can affect my chances of an education.
I am also hoping that a trip to New Orleans will happen soon enough to make it there in time for the end of Mardi Gras. Why oh why couldn't it be a week later than it is? All this snow in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland is holding up the plans. But I'm hoping that John will get everything together so that we can make it to Alabama one day near the end of this week, spend a day packing the truck, then drive to New Orleans and laissez roll some bon temps. That would be excellent since I haven't been to Mardi Gras since 2000 and would love to be there again.
It would also be great to check out the University of New Orleans campus since that's one of the places I might end up. I have never been to the school, but I love the city and know plenty of wonderful places there. It's easier for me to think about living there in some respects, but in others not so much since I've never had to deal with things like buying groceries there.
But, as you can see, life is very dull, and I am really tired of having very little actual stuff to fill my time with. I am very much looking forward to this trip, though, and can't wait for it to happen. I just hope it happens soon enough to catch some new beads to add to my collection.
